Job summary
We have an exciting Band 6 occupational therapy opportunity to come and be part
of our dynamic, client-centred assessment and treatment ward for older adults.
New Spenser ward is a 20 bedded acute inpatient unit for females, which provides assessment and treatment for the population of Surrey and North East Hants with acute mental health conditions. Your role will include completing comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, delivering both individual and group interventions and working as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This role will further provide you with the opportunity to supervise and work alongside an occupational therapy apprentice.
We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide all our occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
We have a robust CPD offer which includes Trust wide training, core competence training, annual conferences, robust supervision structure, as well as reflective practice,specialist interest groups, eLearning, care groups and bimonthly occupational therapy forums.
The post is based at New Spenser ward at St Peters Hospital site in Chertsey Surrey, which is easily accessible from M25
and is only 5 mins drive from Junction 10.
Main duties of the job
Job Overview
- To provide high quality and evidence based
occupational therapy assessment and interventions, both group and individual,
to people who access services and their carers/supporters/family members, in
line with the occupational therapy pathways.
- To communicate effectively with people who access
services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate outside agencies.
- To contribute to the generic functioning of the
team.
- To provide supervision and mentoring to more junior
occupational therapists, occupational therapy apprenticeships, support workers and
activities coordinators (as appropriate).
- To provide occupational therapy student placements.
- To contribute to service development and audits.
- To take on the role of lead professional as
appropriate.

effective clinical reasoning and formulation skills to devise person-centred

the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions.
- To complete
comprehensive risk assessment and management plans, raising safeguarding
concerns in line with Trust policy.
