Job summary
- We are looking for a part-time (0.2 WTE) Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist to work within the multi-disciplinary UK Specialist Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Clinic.
- The role will be within the Learning Disabilities Directorate, within the FASD team assessment pathway, and will involve carrying out communication assessments with children and adults who may have been affected by prenatal alcohol exposure.
- This role is suitable for someone who is passionate about ensuring a high-quality holistic approach to the care and support provided to people with neurodevelopmental disorders across the lifespan in the community who have been identified as in need of Speech and Language therapy support to enable them to exercise choice over their own lives.
Main duties of the job
- Assessment of the language skills of children and adults using standardised assessment tools such as the Clinical Evaluation of Language Fundamentals, as well as tools used to assess pragmatic and higher-level language abilities.
- Scoring, interpreting, and feeding back the results of the assessment, including high quality report writing.
- Contributing to diagnostic formulations and recommendations for care management at multi-disciplinary team meetings.
