Surrey and
Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust are looking to recruit a Band 6
Occupational Therapist to work in our Working Age Adults Mental Health rehabilitation
unit at Margaret Laurie House in Reigate. This post is part time for 22.5 hours
a week.
You would be working within an MDT including the ward manager, a Psychologist, Psychiatrist, Nursing staff, HCAs and support workers
Our Service is committed to
working in partnership to deliver high quality care and a recovery-based
approach to mental health services. We use the Model of Human Occupation to guide all
our occupational therapy assessments and interventions.
The occupational therapy leadership
team is committed to an extensive, co-ordinated CPD programme including a
robust supervision structure, care group meetings, Trust wide and core
competence training, and an annual conference. Staff are valued for their
expertise in occupationally focused interventions and specialist group therapy.
The CPD offer includes:
Core skills training e.g. OT formulation,
group skills, Remotivation and the VQ etc.
Mentoring
Regular supervision
Attendance at the OT Forums
(CPD event) bimonthly OT interventions in Trauma, Co-production, The importance
of sleep, OT and research etc.
For newly qualified professionals:
Preceptorship and Band 5 Reflective Practice
Access to Soft skills and
Leadership training through our incredible Leadership Education team within the
Trust

Job Overview
1.
To provide high
quality and evidence based occupational therapy assessment and interventions,
both group and individual, to people who access services and their
carers/supporters/family members, in line with the occupational therapy
pathways.
2.
To communicate effectively with people who
access services, carers, the multi-disciplinary team and when appropriate
outside agencies.

To contribute to the generic functioning of the
team.

To provide supervision and mentoring to more
junior occupational therapists, occupational therapy apprenticeships, support
workers and activities coordinators (as appropriate)

To provide supervision (if relevant to post) and
mentoring to junior occupational therapy staff, occupational therapy
apprentices, activity coordinators and support workers.

To use
effective clinical reasoning and formulation skills to devise person-centred

evaluate the effectiveness of occupational therapy interventions.
To complete
comprehensive risk assessment and management plans, raising safeguarding
concerns in line with Trust policy.
To keep
up to date with current evidence-based practice, research and National
