An exciting opportunity has arisen to work with The Managing Emotions Programme (MEP). We are looking for an Expert Recovery Trainer or Mental Health Practitioner, who is passionate about training and empowering people to develop the skills to manage their own recovery, or those they care for.

The Managing Emotions Programme (MEP) is part of a tiered programme for people with emotional intensity, possibly with traits, or a diagnosis, of Personality Disorder (PD) and their carers. This is part of the wider NHS Transformation aiming to embed mental health interventions within primary care. The aim of the Managing Emotions Programme is to help train and empower people to develop the skills to manage their own recovery or the recovery of those they care for.

As an Expert Recovery Trainer or Mental Health Practitioner, you will deliver psycho-educational courses, co-facilitated with Recovery Coaches. You will co-write recovery focused courses alongside Clinicians and Recovery Coaches with lived experience of mental health difficulties and work with the multi-disciplinary team in the support of the participants who access the service. The post also provides supervision to Band 4 Senior Recovery Coaches and will work closely with the Band 6 Senior Clinician to assist with service improvement, evaluation and quality assurance.

We have two full time roles available.

Main duties of the job

To use your expert peer training and / or mental health qualifications to provide an effective, high-quality service which enhances the co-production and co-delivery of PD recovery-focused courses, to support people in self-management, keeping well, and offer guidance on how to work towards recovery.

To contribute towards the development and evaluation of the primary care PD pathway.

To provide supervision and mentoring, where appropriate, to Senior Recovery Coaches and

Recovery Coaches who are involved in the PD pathway;

The post holder will lead on the carers provision by promoting a focus on carers health and wellbeing, including young carers, by co-producing specific courses for carers alongside the Senior Recovery Coaches and Recovery Coaches.

  • Professional registration with the relevant body i.e NMC or HCPC
