Job summary
A full-time vacancy has arisen at Aldershot Centre for Health for a Nepalese speaking Support Time and Recovery Worker (STR) within a busy Community Mental Health Recovery Service (CMHRS). This includes the clozapine clinic at North East Hampshire and Farnham community mental health recovery service based in Aldershot Centre for Health. This post is shared with 3 days for North East Hampshire and Early Intervention in Psychosis (EIIP). The person must be fluent in both Nepali and English.
The post is really important to engage with the local Nepalese community. It will involve education and support for people and their families. They will be a need to attend clinical appointments with people and their families to help with translation and interpretation.
The post holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team alongside, Community Psychiatric Nurses, Psychiatrists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists and other STR workers They will also be trained to be a phlebotomist to work within the clozapine clinic.All staff receive regular supervision and group reflective practice happens monthly. We are looking for a good team player. You will have excellent communication skills in both Nepalese and English and have the ability to manage your time effectively to meet the needs of both teams.
Main duties of the job
The post holder must be fluent in both Nepali and English.
The purpose of this post is to work as part of the CMHRS and to focus on the direct needs of service users, working across boundaries of care, organisations and roles.
The role includes working as a phlebotomist within the clozapine clinic and using the "Potchi" machine to assist reading the results and support the CPN within the clinic.
The role is to provide Support, give Time to service users with a mental issue thus promote Recovery and maintain them in their community environment. To assist care co-ordinators in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating individual care plans.
Improve understanding of mental illness through education and promotional activities within the Nepalese community.
Support people who speak Nepalese to access a range of talking therapies within the CMHRS and Support integration into community services
Help staff to understand Nepalese culture and spiritual beliefs and how these influence engagement with mental health services
Act as an interpreter at appointments and telephone calls with Nepalese speaker, to give a continuity of support throughout appointments.
Increase the use of information available in Nepalese that is produced at the right level (graphic as well as written)
