Job summary
8A to 8B Preceptorship Opportunity /Candidates eligible for 8B are also invited to apply (25 hrs per week)
This is an exciting opportunity for a confident, creative, and compassionate applied psychologist to help shape our evolving service. The Neuro MDT Clinical Psychology service was established in 2019 as part of Frimley ICS's transformation of services for people with neurological conditions.
We are looking for someone who is committed to making a positive difference to the lives of people with neurological conditions and who has clear motivation to further develop as a Clinical Neuropsychologist.
For the right individual we can support your journey towards the BPS QiCN. A development plan on appointment will outline your progression to the funded 8B Lead Clinical Psychologist post (see supporting documents). Candidates with established experience in neuropsychology and who already have completed the knowledge component (or equivalent) of the QiCN will be considered for 8B if other essential criteria are met.
Our friendly virtual MDT includes a part-time Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, Consultant Neurologists, Specialist Nurses, Neuro-specialist therapies, and care coordinators.
You will join our growing Clinical Health Psychology Department based in Frimley Health Services and the wider network of Clinical Health psychologists throughout SABP. There is also a local group of psychologists working in Stroke and Neuro who meet for networking and peer support.
Main duties of the job
Your work will be varied and include consultation with the wider MDT and partner organisations; uni-disciplinary neuropsychological assessment, formulation, and where appropriate, time-limited interventions with individuals and/ or their family / carers; staff training. Service development projects and audit will be an integral part of this role as we shape this new service, with input from our key stakeholders.
The ICS catchment is geographically large and serves a diverse population, covering Surrey Heath, Northeast Hampshire and East Berkshire. In addition to virtual meetings, this post requires travel to Frimley Health's hospital sites (Frimley Park, Heatherwood, Wexham) and patient homes, therefore you will need to have access to appropriate transportation.
You will have post-qualification experience of MDT working and with neuropsychological assessment / formulation. Experience with psychological approaches to support adjustment is also considered essential. Pre- or post-qualification with a wide range of neurological diagnoses /presentations is considered desirable. (Please see full person specifications).
We have strong links to the Clinical Psychology training program at University of Surrey and the post-holder will be expected to supervise clinical trainees. Our department also offers honorary assistant psychology placements, so there are good opportunities to develop your supervision skills.
