Job summary
We are looking for applicants who are interested in taking up a Band 8a
group psychotherapy post in our friendly and welcoming psychotherapy service in
the North West Surrey Psychotherapy Service (Based in Chertsey).
You will have experience in working with people with severe and enduring
mental health presentations and in offering assessment as well as individual
and group psychotherapy and experience in delivering MBT interventions is
highly desirable. You will be involved in providing supervision and support to
colleagues.

Main duties of the job
To provide individual psychoanalytic
psychotherapy and group analytic therapy to adults with severe and enduring
mental health difficulties.
To provide Group Mentalization Based
Treatment (MBT) as part of the outpatient MBT programme.
To be responsible for the management and have
an overview of the departments Group Psychotherapy waiting list and groups.
To undertake high quality psychotherapeutic
consultations/ assessments for people referred to the North-West Surrey Psychotherapy
Service.
To work alongside patients, carers, referrers
and professionals to provide safe, effective, and accessible psychotherapeutic treatment.
To supervise psychotherapy colleagues, trainees
and honorary therapists attached to the service
To offer Reflective Practice Groups as
required.

comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans for
people with complex needs.
To establish and maintain
effective partnerships and relationships with colleagues, other
agencies, people who use services and their carers and
support staff
To
provide group analytic psychotherapy and individual psychodynamic
psychotherapy.
To be
responsible for the management of the departments Group Psychotherapy waiting
list, having an overview of the groups in the service and providing supervision
to colleagues for their group psychotherapy practice.
To
facilitate the MBT and associated MBT groups i.e. the introductory MBT group
and an MBT carers psychoeducational group as required.
To be
involved in processing referrals and liaising with and advising referrers,
other professionals, and trainees engaged in mental health work about the role
and suitability of psychoanalytically informed interventions.
To
provide weekly supervision for honorary therapists if required.
To provide reflective practice to other working age
adult services in the Trust as requested.
To
attend weekly Psychotherapy service meetings and MBT supervision held on Wednesday
mornings and monthly reflective practice supervision meetings.
Additional responsibilities
To facilitate the yearly service user and carer
feedback meeting.
To represent as required the psychotherapy
service as part of a multi-disciplinary personality disorder forum to inform
the management of complex and high-risk patients as required.
To attend clinical and managerial supervision
and be up to date with the Trusts mandatory and statutory training requirements
and any additional professional training required by the service to carry out
core duties and to maintain the CPD requirements for the appropriate professional
registering body.
To contribute as required to the planning and
development of the operational policies connected with the psychotherapy
service.
To help identify appropriate service
developments and make recommendations to the Head of Service and take
responsibility for implementing such developments as agreed.
To remain up to date and informed of and current
research to support evidence-based practice in your own professional work and
to the work of the team.
To participate in quality improvement projects,
clinical audit, and research.
To work within the Code of Ethics and the
relevant professional practice guidelines of the appropriate registering body
and the professional guidance framework of the Trust.
To work within the framework of the policies and
