Job summary
We are excited to offer two opportunities which include a 'Golden Hello' of £3,000 (subject to T&C's),to lead our friendly and supportive teams as Ward Managers for Juniper Ward or Mulberry Ward.
Juniper is an 18 bed Inpatient open acute ward, supporting the needs of working age adults. Juniper Ward is mixed gender unit and holds 18 beds.
Mulberry is 15 Bed inpatient open acute ward and is also mixed gender supporting the needs of working age adults.
As the ward manager you will provide robust clinical leadership and management to the staff team. You will be a source of mental health knowledge and expertise, have vision and resilience to support the ward and your colleagues in keeping the ward environment safe and productive.
Main duties of the job
Ensure the service operates in a safe,
effective & efficient way as part of the whole system of mental health
services. Foster a culture that encourages and enables individuals to have an
active role in identifying, planning and meeting their individual needs. Support
strategic leadership in relation to service improvement and quality evaluation.

working with patients with chronic mental health challenges, delivering
comprehensive psychiatric assessment including risk assessment and risk
management plans. There is a great emphasis on physical health care on the unit
and staff receive regular training to ensure they are offering up to date
interventions and feel confident to carry out care with the patients.
Good
communication skills are essential to deliver effective, high quality
healthcare while managing operational aspects and ensuring the ward runs
effectively, this will include all aspects of people management: recruitment
and retention, safer staffing, staff development, management and clinical
supervision, clinical effectiveness underpinned by evidence based care and key
performance indicators and CQC standards. The applicant must be compassionate
towards both patients and staff and have an open and honest presence.

to continuous learning to improve patient care and can offer a range of
learning opportunities to support the development of patient experience and
your own knowledge. We are keen to acknowledge staff interests and have great
educational links to the local universities. We activity encourage staff to
pursue on going education and bring new skills to the unit.
There is an
opportunity to undertake psychological intervention training in DBT skills,
trauma informed interventions and CBT skills, physical health training adding a
range of procedures to your tool kit. We also have unique violence reduction
training with the use of safety pods.

you will be supported by a full MDT team, Advanced Clinical Practitioner and Senior
Matrons.
