Job summary

Do you want to join a new, innovative service working to support the lives of young people with neurodevelopmental needs in schools and home? Are you keen to improve systems and processes to provide a supportive and streamlined offer? We are looking for you!

The Neurodevelopmental service opened in 2022 to improve the lives of young people with these needs. The Spoke team has been set up to support young people with identified neurodevelopmental needs, prior to a confirmed diagnosis, removing the focus of waiting lists and unmet needs. We have a variety of therapists in the team to support the needs of young people in schools and we are looking for a leader to help steer the direction of this branch of the service whilst also providing expertise in this field.

Main duties of the job

This role will lead the ‘Spoke Team’ in the Neurodevelopmental pathway, to facilitate embedding tools and interventions to help meet the identified needs of young people in school and at home.

This role will also deliver high quality assessments, interventions and consultation within the neurodevelopmental service as well as working alongside the management team on strategic and service development and evaluation by working in partnership with young people, parents and carers and professionals across the system.

They will support Neurodevelopmental projects that support the alliances strategic direction in accordance with the ITHRIVE framework working in partnership with alliance partners, Education and social care.

CLINICAL

· To provide specialist assessment to children and young people with developmental or mental health difficulties using information from a broad range of structured psychometric and semi-structured clinical methods.

· To formulate and implement specialist treatment of clients’ mental health problems and/or behavioural problems, based on an appropriate conceptual framework and current evidence-based best practice, taking into account the current NICE guidelines.

· To undertake a range of therapeutic interventions, drawing on a number of models and employing a range of modalities (individual, family and group) adapted and tailored to the needs of the individual and the context. To make decisions about treatment options taking into account highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.

· To undertake ongoing evaluation of the outcome of the interventions.

· To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to monitor progress and evaluate outcome.

· To be able to overcome a variety of barriers to communication when working with children and families who may be very anxious, vulnerable and have difficulty articulating their problems, requiring imaginative and sensitive approaches towards engagement.

· To exercise autonomous professional judgement and responsibility for their professional practice.
