Main duties of the job
You will be involved in assessing and stabilising the families and young people by understanding their needs and delivering brief interventions. It is beneficial to have experience and understanding in delivering anxiety management, behavioural activation and safeguarding with young people but we will consider transferable skills sets from adult services.

The Urgent Team Practitioner will be a
member of the multi-disciplinary specialist team, providing services to
children and young people 6-18 years and young people in transition to adult
services with mental health needs, emotional and behavioral difficulties.
The main responsibilities of the post
holder will be providing assessments and treatment, either individually or with
a member of the multidisciplinary team depending on the complexity of the
referral, within both clinic and community settings. The post holder will be able to offer a range
of therapeutic interventions appropriate to the care pathway the young person
is on.
As part of a busy CYPS Directorate and
alongside our Alliance Partnership including local voluntary sector organisations,
you will be supporting the team in leading with the implementation and
embedding of the THRIVE Framework across the newly created CYPS Community Teams in Surrey.
You will have demonstrable expertise working
with young people under the age of 18 years.

- 2-year post qualification experience of working in the community with young people with mental health difficulties and their families.
- Demonstrable expertise in complex assessment of people with both mental and physical health issues
- Risk Assessment and implementation of risk management plans
- Use of outcome measures to evidence good practice
- Demonstrable ability to develop practical innovations and approaches to issues and complex problems.
- Awareness of National agendas for the development and growth of CYPS
- Expertise and experience in supervision and supporting the growth of other staff.
- Proven ability to provide training and education regarding mental health and complex clinical topics
- Proven track record of building positive relationships with partner agencies.

- You will have a clinical qualification at Diploma level or above in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work or Occupational Therapy with HCPC registration and evidence of transferable mental health skills and practice.
- Registration with NMC/HCPC/SWE is essential.
Desirable
- Post qualification training to degree level is desirable but not essential. Post qualifications in the areas of child development, attachment, or family functioning desirable but not essential.
