Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and innovative Clinical/Counselling Psychologist with experience of, and a keen interest in mental health, to work within Guildford Community Mental Health Recovery Service. We welcome applicants who are newly-qualified, as well as those with post-qualification experience. Any job offer will be dependent on attaining HCPC registration. Any candidates who are within 6 months of attaining HCPC registration are welcome to apply.
We are keen to recruit clinicians who wish to develop a well-rounded set of clinical skills but are also supportive in nurturing people’s special interests. There will also be opportunity to provide supervision to both assistant and trainee clinical psychologists as well as the experience to contribute to the Individual Performance Review/Appraisal of assistant psychologists as required. You will also attend multidisciplinary meetings to provide input on case management and service delivery which is hugely valued by the team.
The candidate must have a full and valid driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes due to the community element of this role and the large geographical area that this post covers.

Main duties of the job
Working in this field offers a wealth of opportunities for Psychologists to utilise a diverse range of professional skills, which includes completing comprehensive assessments and formulations, therapy interventions, consultation and training to non-psychology colleagues, and contribution to service development initiatives.
Other responsibilities will include:
• To actively involve people in developing and agreeing their own care plan, to act as an advocate and ensure that there is proper regard for their dignity, choice, self-esteem, racial, cultural, sexual and religious needs and preferences.
• To undertake comprehensive risk assessments and develop effective risk management plans.
• To practice within a Positive Behaviour Support and trauma informed care framework.
The post holder will be professionally supervised by an experienced Senior Psychologist and you will be well supported within the psychology departments, where Continuing Professional Development and staff support are highly valued.
There will also be opportunities for you to meet regularly with other Psychologists across the Trust for CPD events and service development/transformation projects.
