Job summary

An exciting opportunity to join our development team as we grow the team and expand our solutions catalogue. We deliver a range of innovative bespoke Power Platform solutions to support corporate functions across the Trust, as well as solutions that directly support the care of people who use Trust services.

To date, the team have primarily been focussed on delivering canvas apps and Power Automate solutions but we are now expanding our horizons to include Power Portals/Pages, model-driven apps and Robotic Process Automation using Power Automate Desktop - and we are looking for the right people to help make this a reality.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with an eye for detail and a pragmatic problem-solving approach as well as sound knowledge of Power Platform Technologies.

Main duties of the job

Working as part of our small specialist development team, the postholder will be responsible for the design and development of a range of Power Platform solutions to support colleagues across the Trust.

We currently have a full catalogue of interesting and varied projects waiting our attention, with more and more requests coming in. This is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate and hone your Power Platform skills. 

We currently build a range apps to support both clinical and corporate functions and our developers can get involved in all aspects of the application development lifecycle. We believe in team collaboration - particularly when it comes to problem solving - and playing to the strengths of our team members while taking time to share knowledge across the team.

An exciting opportunity to join our apps development team as we grow the team and expand the range of solutions we offer to the Trust. 

To date we have been primarily working with Power Platform canvas apps and Power Automate, delivering a range of innovative bespoke solutions to colleagues across the Trust. We are now expanding our solutions catalogue to include Power Portals/Pages, model-driven apps and implementing Robotic Process Automation using Power Automate Desktop.

Job Overview

The post holder will be responsible for the design, development and implementation of complex Power Platforms solutions and will be responsible for the quality of the digital products delivered. The post holder will engage actively with stakeholders across the Trust to design solutions and set priorities the Trusts strategic direction to frame problems and set priorities for the Applications Development Team. They will work with Clinicians, Trust management, staff and relevant NHS and external parties to ensure that the definition, creation and development from the Application Development team is of a high quality and meets the changing demands on healthcare. The postholder may also be responsible for the line management of contract or junior development staff.

The Applications Development Team are implementing the Agile scrum framework with a strong focus on user centred design and user experience. The postholder must have knowledge of and support this methodology.

Key accountabilities include:

· Design and develop a range of digital solutions using Microsoft Power Platform to drive business process improvements and support clinical and corporate colleagues across the Trust.

  • Lead and advise on the requirements gathering process, meeting with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders to identify and document business requirements.
  • Assume role of subject matter expert and specialist in Power Platform applications and solutions.
  • Wireframing, documenting and prototyping Power Platform solutions.
  • Collaborate with staff and other developers to evaluate, identify, explain, design, and implement the right solutions and processes for end users, building custom business applications using Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Lead on the delivery of Power Platform solutions, ensuring compliance with the relevant national and organisational standards, policies and strategic roadmaps

· Research and understand new and emerging technologies and practices to support the development of innovative and creative business solutions.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline business and clinical processes through the implementation of Microsoft technologies, with particular reference to Power Platform Solutions.
  • Develop strong working relationships with clinical and corporate Trust teams from frontline staff to senior leadership and management and with external partners.

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in user-centred design for both public facing and internal services and applications
  • Ability to translate complex user requirements into appropriately delivered solutions using a range of Microsoft technologies.
  • Proven ability to managed stakeholder relationships provide Stakeholders with a positive experience of the service delivered
  • Sound understanding of agile project management techniques
  • Successful implementation of digitally-focused business change and improvement projects.

  • Experience of working in health sector/ knowledge of the health sector.
