Job summary

An opportunity has arisen, for a suitably qualified senior radiographer, to apply for the post of Deputy Superintendent Radiographer In X-Ray and AE. You will be able to deputize for the General Superintendent Radiographer. You will have some previous managerial experience and have the ability to lead the service through changing and challenging times.

It will be predominantly based at St Peters hospital but will rotate to Ashford Hospital on a regular basis. St Peters hospital has 3 xray rooms, fluoroscopy, Interventional x-ray, 2 CT Scanners, Dexa, Dentals and Image Intensifiers. It is fully digital and is covered within a Managed Equipment Service for replacement. You will be expected to rotate through all areas of the department.

We actively encourage staff to undertake continuing professional development and extension of the radiographers role. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to extend their role in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job

To deputise for the General Superintendent Radiographer in charge of x-ray, AE x-ray and RBU.

To be responsible for all imaging services at St Peters Hospital on a day to day basis.

To maintain high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety.

To liaise with other Health Care Professionals both in and outside the Trust and departmental staff on a daily basis.

To continue to develop ones own knowledge, practice and development through continued professional development.

To be responsible for the training of newly qualified staff in the radiology department at St Peters Hospital and along with other senior staff for the training of students.

To be responsible for staff training and updating staff in the working of the General X-Ray, Fluoroscopy and Theatre.

To understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, staff, visitors and staff according to the Trusts Health and Safety Policy.
