Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and experienced Sonographer to join the Sonographer led Ultrasound service.

The Ultrasound department provides a wide ranging service including, abdominal, small parts and gynaecological scans. In addition there will be the opportunity to broaden your skills and knowledge with HyCoSy, CEUS, FNAs, MSK and Vascular ultrasound. A wide range of examinations are performed including In Patients, AE, OP and GPs.

We now have a Link Grade competency system in place so for Sonographers with 3 years post graduate experience and any specialist training in the above can apply for an upgrade to 8a. Graduates without any specialist training will be employed initially at band 7 level and then will be supported to achieve relevant competencies for 8a.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic Sonographer who may want to further their knowledge and skills.

You must be able to demonstrate excellent people skills, both with colleagues and patients.

Have the ability to motivate and actively encourage teamwork within the Ultrasound and Imaging department.

The ideal candidate needs to go the extra mile to enable the department to meet the Trust & departmental targets whilst working with the 4Ps.

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a quality scanning and reporting service in all aspects of abdominal/ gynae/small parts ultrasound for Ashford, St Peters and Woking Community hospitals
  • To be involved with service delivery and service improvement for the benefit of the patient through audit and research
  • To maintain high clinical standards, particularly regarding patient care, clinical risk and Health and Safety
  • To liaise with other Health Care Professionals and departmental staff on a daily basis
  • To continue to develop ones own knowledge, practice and development through continued professional development
  • To participate in Quality Assurance and Quality Control of the ultrasound equipment
  • To participate in the practical and theoretical training of student practitioners
  • To understand the implications of the Health and Safety at Work Act and ensure a safe working environment for patients, visitors and staff according to the Trusts Health and Safety Policy
