Job summary

We are excited to be in a position to offer a permanent Band 2 post for a Reception to join our Outpatient Team within the iMSK; in Orthopaedics. The post will be 37.5 hours a week Monday to Friday, covering both hospitals when required.

The successful applicant will have the ability to work as part of the team in order to deliver high quality customer service, display excellent communication skills, and an understanding of delivering healthcare services. The ideal candidate must a team player with the ability to problem solve and work independently. Main duties of the job

This post includes general reception duties where you will be the first point of contact for all our Outpatient Clinics, whilst closely working alongside our Consultants and the rest of our team to provide excellent service to our patients. Work in a large team with many personalities. We also like candidates to be able to work using their own initiative as the Department is extremely busy. You must be a Team Player with the ability to juggle many requests at any one time. The Candidate needs to be reliable, empathetic with an advanced level of computer skills and good time keeping.

Job responsibilities

· Work as an integral part of the Orthopaedic Team including ensuring the parents/relatives receive a friendly and welcoming service.

· To use internal computer systems e.g. Cerner for the input of patient information and requests, and accessing Trust information via the internal internet system.

· To ensure patients are admitted and discharged correctly and transfers are recorded on Cerner.

· Answer telephone and co-ordinate messages initiating action accordingly.

· To ensure medical records are available and all relevant documentation filed into the notes and scanned to Evolve.

· To communicate with parents and families in a professional, sensitive and appropriate manner.

· Be available to listen to parents/relatives about their concerns issues and suggestions related to patient care management ensuring the Matron or Nurse in charge is informed immediately.

· To liaise and communicate with other departments both internally and externally as appropriate.

· To undertake photocopying and faxing as requested.

· To book and arrange follow up appointments.
