Job summary

There are exciting opportunity have arisen, for Deputy Team Leader within Day Surgery Theatres/Recovery at Ashford Hospital

The Day Surgery Unit consists of 2 Operating Theatres which are used for a range of surgical specialities, including general, vascular, orthopaedic/trauma, oral, ENT and gynaecology. There are 2 Treatment Rooms on the Unit for minor procedures/operations and pain management procedures. The Unit also has a Recovery Room comprising 6 trolley spaces

Applications are welcome from Experienced Registered Nurses to join our friendly busy DSU Unit.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the senior team providing support and clinical expertise leading theatres and deputising team leader in different specialities including Orthopaedic, General, Gynaecology and MaxsFacs/ENT etc and also in Recovery/Post-Operative Care Unit.

You will need excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong belief in providing the best patient centred care possible. You will be a credible role model for junior staff, qualified and non-qualified, and support staff in all aspect of perioperative practice. You should have skills in managing a theatre department on a shift basis and lead the department in the absence of senior staff.
  • Experience in managing Day Surgery Unit covering admissions/surgical nursing and managing nurse lead discharge. You will work closely with colleagues in the Day Surgery Unit to ensure the cohesiveness and the smooth running of the whole department.
