Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Urology Specialist Nurse based in the Urology Centre at St Peter’s hospital.
The purpose of this post is to contribute to an expert specialised service in Urology that positively impacts on the experience of patients and carers by providing high standards of clinical practice and care in keeping with the Trusts core values.
The role will complement the Urology CNS’s function by assisting in supporting and guiding cancer patients through their diagnostic and treatment pathway. This post will also offer training in respect to urological diagnostic procedures such as urodynamics and urology treatments for both benign and cancerous conditions.
The applicant should have a some knowledge of the speciality and also some experience of nursing staff management. As such this band 6 position will provide a varied multifaceted role in the field of Urology allowing for personal growth and development. Full training and support will be provided.

Main duties of the job
To provide high quality nursing care for patients requiring
• Catheterisation/catheter care and teaching
• Teaching intermittent catheterisation
• Intravisical bladder instillations for bladder cancer and other conditions
• Partake in urodynamic studies and undertake appropriate training
• Manage own caseload of patients and organise clinics
• Provide seamless communication for patients undertaking urology treatments
• Collaborative working with community partners regarding catheterised patients
• Ensuring cohesive working relations within urology department and other specialities.
