Job summary
An
exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to join the Senior Medical Adult
Services Team, within the General and Specialist Medicine division, at Ashford and
St Peters Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post is mainly based on the St
Peters site.
This
is an excellent opportunity for candidates looking to progress a career in Care
of the Elderly, or further improve existing knowledge. They will join a
supportive team and gain valuable experience in in-patient and out-patient
cardiology, whilst developing relevant practical skills.

Main duties of the job
This is a fixed
term post for service for two full time equivalent posts, one ASAP and the
other one from April 2023 until the first week of October 2023.
1.
SAMS Ward
Rounds to gain experience in the assessment and management of senior medical
patients.

In reach to surgical wards
3.
Frailty in reach to Accident and Emergency Department
4. General
SAMS Clinics
All ward
rounds are supported fully by a daily Consultant ward round and clinics are
supported by a consultant.
The
successful applicant will participate in regular on-call commitments for acute
General Medicine at St Peters, on a full-shift rota.

DUTIES OF THE POST HOLDER
Overview
of Responsibilities:
The post
holder will be joining the SAMS medical staffing team within the Division of
General & Specialist Medicine to ensure the
smooth running of the service. They will participate in regular on-call
commitments for acute General Medicine at St Peters, on a full- shift rota and provide in-patient and
out-patient care for patients per the Trusts contractual obligations to its purchasers. They will participate in the
supervision and training of junior medical staff and offer guidance and advice
to the wider MDT. The
successful candidate will maintain accurate record keeping for every
patient seen and communication made with General Practitioners and other agencies. And keep up to date with
advances in current knowledge, practice
and work with and implement service policies, guidelines,
and protocols. They will participate in Trust training
programmes to improve the quality of service
provision. And will work within and demonstrate an understanding of the
Clinical Governance agenda.

- Full GMC registration
- 2 years post Foundation year 1 experience i.e, 3 years post Qualification. Ability to manage acute medicine calls as middle grade Doctor.
- Advance life support certification
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- MRCP (UK) or International Equivalent of Postgraduate Medical Training
Desirable
- MRCP part 1 or 2 or similar international certification.
- SAMS experience.
- Be able to work for the entire fixed term period
