Job summary
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory team at St Peter's Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients undergoing a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
The post holder will work across the catheter laboratories, recovery area and pre-assessment services, supporting both elective and emergency care, including participation in the on-call rota once trained. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with an interest in cardiology to develop specialist skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job

Deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures within the catheter laboratories and recovery areas

Assist during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including scrub nurse duties following appropriate training

Prepare patients and clinical environments, including equipment checks and sterile preparation

Monitor, assess and document patients' condition before, during and after procedures

Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration and emergency situations

Participate in the on-call rota for emergency out-of-hours interventional services once competent

Support patient flow and act as coordinator within the catheter lab when required

Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with Trust policies

Contribute to patient education, discharge planning and health promotion
