Job summary

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory team at St Peter's Hospital. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care to patients undergoing a wide range of diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.

The post holder will work across the catheter laboratories, recovery area and pre-assessment services, supporting both elective and emergency care, including participation in the on-call rota once trained. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses with an interest in cardiology to develop specialist skills within a supportive multidisciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

  • Deliver a high standard of nursing care to patients undergoing cardiac procedures within the catheter laboratories and recovery areas

  • Assist during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures, including scrub nurse duties following appropriate training

  • Prepare patients and clinical environments, including equipment checks and sterile preparation

  • Monitor, assess and document patients' condition before, during and after procedures

  • Recognise and respond appropriately to clinical deterioration and emergency situations

  • Participate in the on-call rota for emergency out-of-hours interventional services once competent

  • Support patient flow and act as coordinator within the catheter lab when required

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation in line with Trust policies

  • Contribute to patient education, discharge planning and health promotion

  • Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, effective and timely patient care
