Named Nurse for Safeguarding Children and Young People

Job summary

The Named Nurse will lead on the safeguarding of children and the promotion of their welfare within ASPH. They will be responsible for assuring the Trust Board that a high quality safeguarding service is being provided within ASPH.

The Named Nurse role is to seek to improve the health outcomes for children and families by the promotion of innovative practice and collaborative working across our multi-agency arrangements, stimulating the awareness of health needs and influencing policies promoting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable children.

The role involves providing highly specialist advice and clinical support to staff employed and commissioned by ASPH, maintaining appropriate documentation and records. To facilitate and provide a culture of safeguarding support through safeguarding supervision and training whilst being a source of knowledge in the area of safeguarding children.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Head of Safeguarding, Named Doctor for safeguarding the Named Nurse and other Named Professionals will provide an evidence-based service, ensuring quality care to vulnerable children and their families. This includes being a source of expertise for ASPH and promoting excellent standards of professional practice in relation to safeguarding children.

The Named Nurse for children will manage a team of Safeguarding Children Specialists in safeguarding, delivering supervision and professional development opportunities to enable them to become specialist experts in this challenging field.
