Job summary

The postholder will be one of a team of 14 Middle Grades with sessions at both Ashford and St. Peter'sHospitals.Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals merged to form a single NHS Trust in 1998. Trauma is primarily carried out on the St. Peter's site. The Ashford site has outpatients and a dedicated orthopaedic ward which isused for joint replacements and other elective surgery.The postholder will participate in the on-call trauma rota.

The Trust was formed by the merger of the two hospitals in 1998. The Ashford/St. Peter's Trust is the largest non-teaching Trust in the region and provides a full range of acute hospitals services. All surgicaland trauma emergencies are admitted into St. Peter's Accident and Emergency Department. There is a 9 bedded ITU service on the St. Peter's site.

Main duties of the job

The main duties and responsibilities of the appointee will be:To provide Senior Middle Grade cover for all orthopaedics duties asdetailed below including participating in the on-call rota.To work with the existing orthopaedic surgeons across both Ashford andSt. Peter's Hospitals to provide an efficient and effective orthopaedicservice.To provide inpatients, day case and outpatients care for the patientsrequiring elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery, in accordance withthe Trust contractual obligations.To adopt a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your careand in partnership with other colleagues working in the speciality for theproper function of the department.The Clinical Fellow would undertake to ensure that clinical audit was anongoing programme and that agreed actions required as indicated fromaudit were implemented.
