Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen at St Peter's Recovery Department. We are looking for a highly motivated experienced person with excellent recovery skills to lead a successful recovery unit as a Deputy Team Leader.

The unit offers 12 post-operative beds for 8 theatres of different surgical specialties which also includes a separate urology suite.

Applications are welcome from Registered Nurses/ODP's to join our friendly busy Theatre Recovery team.

As a senior member of the team, you will deliver high standards of patient care and experience, and the ability to support junior recovery practitioners. You must be a Registered Nurse/ODP with recent recovery experience.

Main duties of the job

You will be part of the senior team supporting an environment that promotes excellence in nursing practice and development of high level of clinical skills in post-anaesthetic care unit.

Act as a role model and create an environment that promotes excellence in Theatre Practice and empowers staff to develop high levels of clinical skills and autonomy.

Demonstrates appropriate and necessary managerial skills and knowledge by acting up for Team Leaders in their absence and facilitate the smooth running of the department.

Deliver skilled practical care to all patients and lead in the monitoring, planning and delivery of individualised patient care, providing specialist advice to junior staff in areas of practice.

To communicate with patients and significant others with empathy and reassurance regarding assessment, care and treatment.

Able to plan duty rosters if required which reflect the needs of the Theatre and which take into account working lives.
