Job summary

As the Lead Emergency Care Nurse, you will be responsible for the daily operational management and service delivery process within the Resuscitation room along with the line management of a nursing team.

Successful applicants will predominantly work in the resuscitation department however will be expected to rotate into other areas of the ED to maintain a breadth of skills and expertise.

The post holder will provide leadership in the Resuscitation room undertaking the role of the Resuscitation room lead. This will provide specialist emergency nursing advice to co-workers and juniors working throughout the department. The role is to work primarily, but not exclusively, in the resuscitation area

Main duties of the job

To demonstrate specialist emergency care and major trauma expertise underpinned by theory and incorporating evidence-based practice, evidenced by completion of appropriate competencies.

To provide leadership for the multidisciplinary team in the resuscitation area to ensure a high standard of patient care, providing support and supervision as required.

The role includes working closely and effectively with the multi-disciplinary team in the management of the Emergency Department Resuscitation room. This includes the support and leadership provided to nursing and support staff within the Emergency Department and across the Emergency Floor. The role also includes the continuing responsibility for the effective delivery of the philosophy, policies, and standards of care and morale of the department in line with the Trust values: Patients first, Passion for excellence, Personal responsibility and Pride in our team.

14. To challenge practice so that the best and most appropriate treatment is given to the patient; maintaining and monitoring high standards of care, recognising and responding proactively to patients changing clinical needs.

15. Ensure a visible presence in clinical areas of responsibility regularly, to ensure accessibility and visibility for staff and patients
