Main duties of the job
INTRODUCTION
The post holder will be one of a team of 10 Middle Grades with sessions at both Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals.
Ashford & St. Peter's Hospitals merged to form a single NHS Trust in 1998. Trauma is primarily carried out on the St. Peter's site. The Ashford site has outpatients and a dedicated orthopaedic ward which is used for joint replacements and other elective surgery.
The postholder will participate in the on-call trauma rota.
THE DEPARTMENT OF ORTHOPAEDICS AND TRAUMA
Since April 1998, the Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma has operated jointly across the two sites. The Department has 21 consultants continuing the trend of increasing sub-specialisation, minimising the number of tertiary referrals and improving training opportunities.
