Job summary
- Manage (includes all aspects) individuals within your discipline.
- Manage work allocation, material purchase, access requirements, service impacts, contractor appointment, contractor sign offs and payments for all tasks and activities undertaken by your discipline.
- Be responsible for health and safety within the working environment for staff, contractors and visitors under your management and/or care.
- Support the projects team through involvement from the outset, by assisting in the specification, planning and assessment of requirement and delivery of projects.
- Function effectively as the authorised person in two disciplines.
- Carry out such duties as may be delegated by the discipline managers.
- Manage contractors, including writing specifications and undertaking quality or clerk of works type activities.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration of task delivery with service/clinical colleagues.
- Undertake continuous professional development and training to enhance and improve skills, capabilities and crafts / engineering knowledge.
Main duties of the job
- To undertake and achieve at least two AP or other advanced trades qualification.
- To undertake and achieve a level 4 qualification in your main trade or building services related subject.
- Achievement of all cyclical training and educational requirements of staff under your line management. This includes any required accreditations.
- To contribute to improving patient and visitor experience.
- To be a customer focussed point of contact representing Estates.
- Demonstrates a logical and practical approach to tasks.
- To be aware of and follow departmental processes, utilising the provisioned technology to deliver assigned tasks, report of observed issues and feedback on condition of the estate and incorporated assets.
- To utilise the software and systems available to report on or communicate effectively within the department as well as outside of the department on aspects such as compliance, work status, budgetary position and projections, delivery of action plans etc.
- To ensure adequate levels of materials, parts and other such resource availability for effective delivery of planned workloads.
- To maximise the effectiveness of human resourcing through planned work activity and tasking.
- To effectively undertake the prioritisation of work activity through assessment of information, evidence based judgements to enhance decision making processes and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
- To undertake such other duties as may be reasonably requested by management.
