Job summary
Ashford and St. Peter's NHS Foundation Trust would like to invite applications for a senior clinical and research operative fellowship post covering Lower Limb Sports Orthopaedic Surgery, including Sports Knee and Hip surgery, primary and revision lower limb arthroplasty. This post is a Royal College of Surgeons Approved Fellowship.
This post will commence from October 2024 and is available for 6 months or 12 months period. You are also welcome to apply for April 2025 & October 2025.
These posts are suited for senior trainees looking to consolidate subspeciality experience and surgical skills prior to taking up Consultant posts. Candidates should have CCT (or within 6/12 of CCT), and have as a minimum completed the FRCS (Orth) exam.
The candidate must be capable of independent operating.
Main duties of the job
The main duties and responsibilities of the appointee will be:
To provide Senior Middle Grade cover for all orthopaedics duties as
detailed below including participating in the on-call rota.
To work with the existing orthopaedic surgeons across both Ashford and
St. Peter's Hospitals to provide an efficient and effective orthopaedic
service.
To provide inpatients, day case and outpatients care for the patients
requiring elective and emergency orthopaedic surgery, in accordance with
the Trust contractual obligations.
To adopt a continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your care
and in partnership with other colleagues working in the speciality for the
proper function of the department.
The Clinical Fellow would undertake to ensure that clinical audit was an
ongoing programme and that agreed actions required as indicated from
audit were implemented.

The Middle Grades in the department are expected to arrange and cover each others duties and on-call commitments during periods of absence.
