Job summary
Swan ward is looking for dynamic staff nurses to work on this 42 bedded, orthopaedic ward. The ward accommodates emergency and elective trauma and orthopaedic patients, including pre-operative, peri-operative, post-operative and inpatient rehabilitation care needs.
Orthopaedic nursing experience is not essential as all relevant training will be given.

Main duties of the job
- To provide specialist clinical support and knowledge to patients within the Orthopaedic ward.
- Contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the ongoing professional development for professional staff and students.
- Support the Divisional Chief Nurse in the establishment of a good working atmosphere and in making the most efficient/ effective use of staff, supplies and service
- Internally the post holder will develop effective working relationships with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team
- To provide high quality care to the patients attending the Orthopaedic ward in relevant areas of practice and manage areas of practice in the absence of senior staff.
- Delivering high quality direct patient care
- Care planning, implementation and evaluation, including nursing assessment, care plans and risk assessment completion and review.
- Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers
- Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research
- Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trusts policies and procedure
- To contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment, and to supervise junior registered and non-registered staff.
