Job summary

Swan ward is looking for dynamic staff nurses to work on this 42 bedded, orthopaedic ward. The ward accommodates emergency and elective trauma and orthopaedic patients, including pre-operative, peri-operative, post-operative and inpatient rehabilitation care needs.

Orthopaedic nursing experience is not essential as all relevant training will be given.

Main duties of the job

To provide specialist clinical support and knowledge to patients within the Orthopaedic ward.
Contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment for the ongoing professional development for professional staff and students.
Support the Divisional Chief Nurse in the establishment of a good working atmosphere and in making the most efficient/ effective use of staff, supplies and service
Internally the post holder will develop effective working relationships with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team
To provide high quality care to the patients attending the Orthopaedic ward in relevant areas of practice and manage areas of practice in the absence of senior staff.
Delivering high quality direct patient care
Care planning, implementation and evaluation, including nursing assessment, care plans and risk assessment completion and review.
Communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team, patients, families and their carers
Maintain best practice, ensuring compliance with evidence-based practice and research
Maintain skills, knowledge and competencies adhering to the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and the Trusts policies and procedure
To contribute towards developing and maintaining a suitable and stimulating learning environment, and to supervise junior registered and non-registered staff.
