Job summary

We are currently have an exciting opportunity for a motivated and proactive health care assistant to work in Eye Outpatient clinics Ashford, St Peters and Woking.

The department runs daily clinics Monday to Friday. We see patients with various eye conditions.

Applications are welcome from Health care assistants, and those with little care sector experience.

Experiencing excellence care during an outpatient's appointment is our main driving force for the patients.

Informal visits are welcome.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Work as a Health Care Assistant in a department.
  • Carry out assigned tasks involving direct care in support of and supervised by a registered nurse.
  • Assisting the patient during their outpatient's appointment. Working in a team to run efficient clinics.
  • Ability to learn new skills as this is a specialised area.

Job responsibilities

A successful candidate should be able to assist patients during their appointments. Provide a welcoming environment and ensure the necessary booking in, paperwork/procedure carried out on patients arrival.

Chaperoning in clinics when required. Undertaking assigned tasks involving direct care, as directed by the nurse-in-charge, as per Department/Ward policies.

All activities are undertaken under the nurse in charge. Escorting patients to departments when needed. Assisting in personal care for some patients. Assisting and arranging transport of patients to their homes

To communicate to a registered nurse any relevant changes he/she observes in a patients condition. Assisting in Fire and resuscitation procedures. Assist clinicians during procedures/examinations.

Recognise and support the patients rights, cultural beliefs, values and attitudes. To undertake assigned tasks involving direct care, as directed by the nurse-in-charge, as per Department/Ward policies. Report any complaint / incident to the nurse-in-charge/registered nurse.

To ensure confidentiality at all times.

The working hours are Monday to Friday, within the hours of 7.30 to 7 pa 37.5 hrs. You will be expected to work cross site, Woking Community Hospital or St Peters or Hounslow.
