Job summary

Ashford & St Peter's NHS Foundation Trust is host to the Surrey, Sussex and Frimley Imaging Network. We are looking for a Managing Director to provide leadership, management oversight and drive collaborative partnership within the network. The successful candidate with be flexible yet focussed and able to innovate and provide challenge to senior operational and clinical teams across three complex systems. This is an exciting role and a great opportunity to build relationships and drive productivity and efficiency for the benefit of patients at a large scale.

The Imaging network spans three Integrated Care Systems (Sussex Health and Care Partnership Integrated Care System; Surrey Heartlands Health and Care Partnership Integrated Care System; and Frimley Health and Care Integrated Care System) and seven Acute NHS Trusts:

  • Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHSFT (ASPH)
  • East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (ESHT)
  • Frimley Health NHSFT (FHFT)
  • Queen Victoria Hospital NHSFT (QVH)
  • Royal Surrey NHSFT (RSFT)
  • Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust (SASH)
  • University Hospitals Sussex NHSFT (UHS)

This post will be offered at AfC Band 8D or 9 depending on experience. This role is a fixed term tenure for 12 months with potential to extend.

Main duties of the job

The Managing Director is responsible for facilitating a reduction in variation and a standardisation of operating procedures (where appropriate) to enable transformation of quality, productivity, and sustainability. This will align with Prof. Sir Mike Richards' 2020 report; Diagnostics; Recovery & Renewal recommendations and other network priorities as they arise. The post holder will be responsible for progressing the network through the stages of maturity set out by NHSE in the Imaging Network Maturity Matrix.

The Managing Director reports to the Surrey, Sussex, and Frimley Imaging Network Board Chair. The Managing Director will have a direct line of engagement with the regional NHSE/I diagnostics leads ensuring national policy and resourcing are introduced to the network.
