Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join our Diabetes Inpatient Team for an innovative project on improving diabetes perioperative care.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working on a surgical ward and have a good understanding of the issues faced by patients with diabetes who are undergoing elective surgery.

As well as delivering support to patients during their perioperative journey, the role will also involve an educational element with a focus on disseminating knowledge around perioperative diabetes care to colleagues across the trust.

The perioperative nurse will form part of the inpatient diabetes team and will work alongside both the diabetes and surgical teams.

The successful candidate will be passionate about improving diabetes care, be innovative in their approach to patients and staff, be a motivated self-starter and be keen to work on a project that will allow them gain valuable experience of working in a multi-disciplinary diabetes team to create a potentially lasting change in service delivery.

Main duties of the job
