Job summary

We are looking for experienced Healthcare Support Workers to join our temporary staffing - Bank on Us service. You must have at least six months continuous, recent experience employed as a Health Care Support Worker in an appropriate care setting and have excellent communication and IT skills as well as a compassionate nature and a desire to provide high standards of care to our patients.

There are a variety of hours and shifts available and we are particularly keen to hear from people who are able to work day shifts.

Please note this role is for the Adult Services only.

Shifts are available on the following sites:

St Peter's Hospital, Ashford Hospital and Woking Community Hospital.

Shift times include:

Early shift 0715-1415, Late shift 1315-2000, Long day 0715-2000, Night shift 1930-0745

Once you have completed the Bank Pre-Registration process you will be booked to attend the Trust's Induction Programme which is 10 days. This commitment is required to support and enhance your current skills and knowledge.

Main duties of the job

Our Healthcare Support Workers are at the heart of providing direct patient centred care, supporting the Registered Nurses and Nursing Associates as well as the wider Multi-Disciplinary Teams.

The role is varied, equally challenging and rewarding, where you will have the opportunity to really make a difference to the experience of our patients. Whether this is supporting patients in their rehabilitation and recovery following an operation or a period of acute illness, or providing holistic and compassionate care for patients at the end of life.

Working as a Bank Healthcare Support Worker in a variety of wards / departments within the hospital setting.

Carry out assigned tasks involved with direct patient care whilst maintaining the privacy and dignity of patients. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse or Nursing Associate, incorporating:-

Continence Management, Nutrition & Hydration, Undertaking and recording of Vital Signs, Moving & Handling of patients to support independence, Infection Prevention and Control, Safeguarding of adults and children.

Successful applicants ideally would have obtained the National Care Certificate or will need to achieve this within six months of joining to remain on the register.
