The Colorectal Department currently has a vacancy for a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon to joineightcurrentConsultant colleagues and a SpecialistDoctor.

The department'sexpertise covers the full range of colorectal surgery with high volumes of colorectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, pelvic floordisordersand proctology. The newConsultant will have a broad training in colorectal surgery and able to integrate and help develop the above services.
Main duties of the job
Surgical management of elective and emergency Colorectal Surgery with a primary interest in Cancer. The candidate will work within a department of eight other Consultant, and one Specialist, Colorectal Surgeons andparticipatein the wider emergency on call rota.
Theprimary focusof the post will beLGI Cancer and general Colorectal Surgery, working closely with the existing surgeons andmulti-disciplinary teamsin providingtheseservices. Activitywill also includeLower GI endoscopy lists.
The post holder willparticipatein the on-call rota for Emergency General Surgery services based at the John Radcliffe Hospital site.
The postholder's duties will be primarily at The Churchill Hospital and John Radcliffe Hospital but it is a condition of the appointment that the postholder will be willing to work in any of the Trust's locationswithin Oxfordshire,includingtheHorton General Hospitalin Banbury.

- Full GMC Registration and licence to practice
- General & Colorectal Surgery; exposure to Emergency General Surgery. Experience in Cancer
Desirable
- An appropriate higher colorectal surgical qualification - E.g.MD / PhD
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via oCCT or CESR (CP) - proposed CCT/CESR (CP) date must be within 6 months of interview oCESR or European Community Rights
