Suitably qualified job-share candidates will receive serious consideration.
Main duties of the job
The post holder's duties will be primarily at the Churchill Hospital, but their presence may from time to time be required in other parts of the Trust. The post will also include involvement in the provision of transplant services in satellite outpatient and inpatient services in other hospitals as part of transplant services, and participation in organ retrieval from other donor hospitals as part of the Oxford-based multi-organ retrieval service for transplantation. The post holder will be expected to play a significant role in the establishment of Normothermic Regional perfusion in Organ retrievals and the establishment of NHS Blood and Transplant organ Assessment and Reconditioning units. This may entail a degree of off-site working.
Oxford is a partner in the Coventry-Oxford Transplant Network (COxNet), and the post-holder may be required to support the provision of clinical services at the University Hospitals of Coventry and Warwick (UHCW) as part of this collaboration (where there is an independent consultant on-call). Off-site elective surgery is carried out as day case procedures. The post holder will take a full and equitable share in the out-of-working-hours Transplantation commitments, including weekends (on a 1:9 basis), including organ implantation and retrieval.
