Would you consider a role as a senior scrub practitioner within the Cardiothoracic Theatres at Oxford University Hospital NHS Trust.

We have permanent vacancies as part of the Oxford Heart Centre expansion within our Cardio-thoracic theatres. Our work is based predominantly in Theatre with some clinical work in the Cardiac Angiography suite.

If you are a highly motivated and experienced Cardiothoracic Scrub Practitioner who is willing to be part of the highly skilled team then this could be a job for you.

We provide a supportive working environment for you to develop the necessary skills to fulfil these senior perioperative practitioner roles.

We offer a structured preceptorship, mentorship and education programme. We support staff to attend our in house Peri- Operative Care Course. There are also opportunities to attend study days and present at national conferences.

All posts involve working an on call commitment, to cover out of hour's emergency work.

Main duties of the job

When working within cardiothoracic theatres you have the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, achieving good outcomes with world wide innovative procedures, such as Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve and Complex Aortic Surgery.

To support and supervise the junior members of the team.

To provide an excellent service in the perioperative environment by delivering a compassionate care whilst the patients are in the peri-operative environment.

Involve on monitoring stocks level, ordering and rotation of stocks if necessary.

Preparation of staff rota, ensuring adequate staff levels and appropriate skill mix to meet the department's needs.

Managing and coordinating the peri-operative team within the direct clinical area.

To be involved in assessing, planning, and delivering care.
