Job summary

To ensure excellent patient care by planning and implementing the relevant procedures to meet the individual needs of the patients attending the outpatient department and maintaining patient records accordingly.

Main duties of the job

Be responsible for the assessment of care needs for the patients attending the Outpatients department, including the development, implementation and evaluation of care.

Support the medical teams within their clinics, carrying out all care appropriate to their grade and competency. To contribute to the effective running of clinics, liaising with multidisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of patient care.

Actively contribute to the continuing development of nursing practice and to act as a mentor for pre and post registration students.

The post holder must be aware of the individuals responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and identify and report, as necessary any untoward incident or accident or potentially hazardous environment.

2. To accept responsibility and be professionally accountable for co-ordinating patients requirements, throughout their visit.

4. To assist in orientation of new staff and provide support for other team members, gaining support by participating in / or leading clinical supervision to act as a mentor.

9. Continue to improve and develop own professional practice and maintain a professional profile using performance reviews to advance personal and professional development

11. To ensure that all equipment is maintained and used safely.
