Job summary

The Deputy Divisional Head of Operations (DDHO) is a key member of the Divisional Team and will contribute to ensuring the operational performance of the Division on a day to day basis, delivering safe, effective efficient service to patients. The post-holder is responsible for the management of local and national access targets and supporting the Directorates in delivering people, performance and financial objectives whilst improving the operational effectiveness of the Division. The post holder plays a vital role in supporting the DDO and senior Divisional Team in developing and implementing the Divisional strategy in line with the Trust's vision, values and strategic goals.

Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated Deputy Divisional Head of Operations to join Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trusts MRC team (Medicine Rehabilitation and Cardiothoracic)

The Deputy Divisional Director of Operations is a pivotal member of the MRC Divisional Team and will contribute to ensuring the operational performance of the Division on a day to day basis, delivering safe, effective efficient service to patients.

The post-holder is responsible for the management of local and national access targets and supporting the Directorates in delivering people, performance and financial objectives whilst improving the operational effectiveness of the Division. You will play a vital role in supporting the Divisional Director of Operations and Senior Divisional Team in developing and implementing the Divisional strategy in line with the Trust's vision, values and strategic goals.

Job responsibilities

  • Under the supervision of the DDO, and in collaboration with other members of the divisional team, play a key role in leading the Division's contribution towards ensuring that the operational performance of the Division on a day to day basis delivers a safe, effective, efficient service to patients and enhances the patient's experience.
  • Assist the DDO in operational planning, compliance with targets and performance standards, supporting the Directorates in delivering people, performance and financial objectives whilst improving the operational effectiveness of the Division.
  • Responsible for providing key leadership in the management and monitoring of all access targets including 4 hour standard, RU, Cancer and CQUIN's.
  • Work in collaboration with the Senior Finance Business Partner (SFBP) and the Directorates to develop and implement a rolling Quality Efficiency Programme ensuring quality impact assessments are undertaken and shared.
  • Support the Senior Divisional and Directorate teams in delivering people, performance and financial objectives whilst improving the operational effectiveness of the Division that ensure patients are effectively managed through their pathway within waiting time requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Finance, HR and PM0 teams, providing leadership and support to ensure delivery of the Divisional objectives, representing the teams at a corporate level as required.

Essential

  • oEducated to first degree level or equivalent experience
  • oFurther training to Masters level or equivalent experience.

Experience and Knowledge

  • oPrevious successful management experience at a senior level within the NHS
  • oHighly developed leadership and organisational skills
  • oHighly developed specialist knowledge of NHS policy, health sector practices and functions of NHS provider organisations and current targets in place
  • oClear understanding of NHS agenda
  • oHigh level of understanding of NHS contracting and funding flows
  • oProven track record of senior operational management in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • oExtensive experience of influencing decision making within a large and complex organisation.
