Overall purpose of post
- To assist Medical and Dental professionals within the specialty. This will include Maxillofacial Surgeons, Orthodontists, Restorative and Cleft Specialists.
- Promoting and coordinating the delivery of evidenced based care to these groups of patients.
- Be accountable for the wellbeing of a patient during and after treatment.
- Assist the Principal Dental nurses and Department Sister in the day to day management of the department.
- Work together with the entire multi disciplinary team in developing a culture that meets the needs of the patients effectively and efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with other healthcare providers and Primary Care teams.
- Develop and perform additional nursing roles that are necessary to the needs of the OMFS outpatient group following appropriate education and training.
- Work at all times within the General Dental Council Scope of Practice (2002).

We are keen to support the successful applicant with development opportunities into specialist areas of dentistry, such as undertaking Post-Registration Qualifications in Orthodontics, Intra-Oral Radiography, Oral Health Education, Safeguarding, Infection Control, Leadership, etc.
