Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to recruit a Head of Commissioning to lead the Trust's Commissioning Team. This team play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with our commissioners of NHS patient services.

As one of the country's largest acute teaching hospitals we have c£1.3bn (annually) of services and activity under contract. The range of services we offered combined with our geographic reach mean we must build and maintain effective relationships with a large number of NHS and LA commissioners. This team and its members form the key interface between Trust services and staff and those commissioners, leading on relationship and contract management, negotiation, the provision of commissioning information and supporting service development.

We are looking for a talented and dedicated individual to provide leadership and sound management in this exiting and challenging field.

Main duties of the job

The commissioning function within the Trust exists to manage the commissioner/provider interface to the benefit of the organisation. It performs the following key functions:

The Head of Commissioning will provide a key role within the Trust as the lead manager of this function.

The post holder will:o Manage the commissioning cycle, function and team for the Trust to ensure that effective management arrangements are in place for the Trust's patient care activity.o Co-ordinate the development, negotiation and management of our NHS patient care contracts.o Serve as the Trust's lead in relation to specific identified commissioners and support the commissioning team in their own lead roles with commissioners.o Have a key role in the development and management of the Trust's response to current NHS contracting and payment framework, providing appropriate support and advice to the Trust's departments.o Act as a key link between Commissioning, Finance and Operations (including divisions).o Provide line management for the Clinical Coding function and senior team.
