Job summary

In conjunction with the Matrons the post holder will work across organisational boundaries to ensure appropriate services are in place and to deliver national and local strategic and operational service objectives and standards.

The Directorate Manager is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective day-to-day running of the Clinical Directorate and delivering key quality, performance and financial plans, achieving key service improvements within the Clinical Directorate and line managing designated staff.

Main duties of the job

The postholder is a key member of the senior Clinical Directorate leadership team and will develop and implement Directorate plans to secure the agreed objectives for the Clinical Directorate and make a positive contribution to delivery of health care across the local health community.

  • Contribute to the strategic planning of services within the Clinical Directorate, identifying future resourcing requirements and ensuring that the Directorate meets contractual and other requirements

  • Prepare the Annual Business Plan for the Directorate and contribute to the development and delivery of the Divisions clinical service and financial strategy.
  • Prepare monthly activity and trend reports for the Directorate to enable accurate forecasting of performance against key financial, service and quality targets and standards.
  • Prepare, in conjunction with the General Manager, business cases for all aspects of the Clinical Directorates activities.
  • Coordinate the development of cost improvement plans for the Clinical Directorate.
  • To be accountable for delegated budgets within the Clinical Directorate and ensure the achievement of financial balance
  • Lead in the development and delivery of cost improvement programmes and manage expenditure within designated control levels.
