Job summary

We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and passionate Therapeutic Radiographer who will be pivotal in the training, development and support of both pre-registration learners and qualifies radiographers within the radiotherapy department.

You must be highly motivated, well-organised, have excellent communication skills, be able to inspire individuals and have extensive senior experience within the radiotherapy setting.

Our Oxford site houses 2 Halcyons & 3 Truebeams with 6DoF couches & RGSC; 2 of the Truebeams are Hyperarc enabled as well as a GoSim CT scanner with auto-contouring software. Our Satellite Unit in Swindon houses 2 Truebeams with 6DoF couches and a GoSim CT scanner and our new satellite in Milton Keynes will house 1 Truebeam and a GoSimCT scanner. All 3 sites are networked by ARIA. Over the three sites we will have over 100 team members including radiotherapy assistants, scheduling co-ordinators, radiographers, advanced practice & consultant radiographers.

Patients are at the heart of what we do, and we are looking for Therapeutic Radiographers who can deliver excellent care with compassion and respect as well as support and develop team members to do the same.

The post holder will be mainly based at Oxford and will be required to work at both Swindon & Milton Keynes satellite centres

Main duties of the job

To contribute to the organisation and delivery of clinical training and teaching for staff and students within a clinical setting.

Provide supervisory expertise underpinned by theoretical knowledge, skill and practical experience, imparting specialist knowledge of radiotherapy

Be responsive to changing needs within the practice area in relation to local and national strategic requirements

To promote & facilitate high standards of patient care and ensure this is prioritised throughout the implementation of all new clinical development or training programmes.

Co-ordinate and provide on-site support to pre-registration educational input and developmental activities for pre-registration learners

Develop and implement personal development plans to meet individual training requirements for bands 3 - 7

Demonstrate a high degree of expertise by their involvement in team development through training for band 3 - 7

Maintain all clinical competencies at Team Leader level.

Maintain an effective clinical presence on the treatment floor and/ or in pre-treatment to ensure that the direct clinical supervision, assessment and support of new staff and learners is consistently maintained across all areas, and over our three radiotherapy departments in Oxford, Swindon and Milton Keynes.
