Senior Specialist Nurse - Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP)
We have an exciting opportunity for a band 7 nurse to join the TTP team as a senior specialist nurse at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for maternity cover (12 month fixed term). Experienced and motivated band 6 nurses will also be considered for the post.
The TTP team provides care for patients with TTP across the Thames Valley and Wessex region, with a secondary geographic site in Southampton as a network.
Prior experience with TTP is desirable but not essential, and training, support and supervision will be provided by the medical team.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will be Oxford-based and will have responsibility for both autoimmune and congenital TTP nursing care in the Thames Valley region and will provide leadership for both the Thames Valley and Wessex regions.
The role will entail working closely with the medical team and wider MDT to ensure the safety and long-term management of patients with this rare and life-threatening condition.
The role includes the participation in MDT clinics, liaison between services, specialist nursing input and follow up, patient education, network-wide education, governance and audit contribution, carrying out nurse-led TTP follow-up clinics, as well as bi-annual TTP satellite clinics at a regional hospital and ongoing patient liaison and advocacy. A band 6 specialist TTP nurse is also based in Southampton as part of the Thames Valley and Wessex regional TTP network.
