Job summary

We are seeking one keen doctor to be part of a busy urology team at the Churchill Hospital Oxford. The department is comprised of 16 consultants, 4 senior clinical fellows, 5 registrars, 4 core trainees, 2 FY2s (one training, one trust doctor (this post)), and 1 physician associate. The urology department has 16 beds and 4 triage beds for emergency urology admissions. There is a high patient turnover. The ward is well supported by senior urology triage nurses and an excellent and knowledgeable nursing team.

This post would suit a F2 equivalent doctor seeking more experience or an F1 doctor who has completed their F1 year of training.

The post would involve ward management and high-quality care for urology inpatients and well as theatre and outpatient training opportunities. Ward work is supported by the on call registrar, FY2s and physician associates. The post holder would also be involved in working with the triage nurses to treat emergency urology admissions in our dedicated urology triage unit - this provides excellent emergency urology training. The post is a trust-appointed post but would be identical otherwise to a F2 training post in terms of timetable and training opportunities. The post is fixed term for up to 12 months until August rotation.

Main duties of the job

The post holder has clinical and professional responsibility for their patients. It is also the duty of the post holder to:

o Keep patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) informed about their condition.o Involve patients (and/or their carers if appropriate) in decision making about their treatment.o Maintain professional standards and obligations as set out from time to time by the General Medical Council and comply in particular with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice.'o The post holder will be responsible for carrying out any work related to and reasonably incidental to the duties set out in their Job Plan such as:

o The keeping of records and the provision of reportso The proper delegation of taskso Maintaining skills and knowledge
