EARLY PREGNANCY ASSESSMENT UNIT -BAND 2/3 (depending on experience) ADMIN/NURSING ASSISTANT
37.5 HOURS PER WEEK TO INCLUDE WEEKENDS

We are looking for someone with an interest in early pregnancy that would enjoy an exciting role which includes both administrative and nursing assistant tasks. If you would like to work in a supportive, dynamic and challenging environment, then we would like to hear from you.
We are a service that has moved from the hospital setting into the community. You will be expected to work as part of a team of other admin/nursing assistants, Doctors, Nurses and Sonographers caring for women with early pregnancy problems and early pregnancy loss. You will be the first contact for service users, both in the clinic and on the telephone. You will facilitate the efficient running of both the early pregnancy & recurrent miscarriage clinics and assist the other health care professionals with their roles. You will be carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks.

This post is 37.5 hours working between 7.30am and 8pm weekdays at the Rosehill site and rostered weekends 8-1 at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
Main duties of the job
You will be caring for women with early pregnancy problems and early pregnancy loss. You will be the first contact for service users, in the clinic and on the telephone. You will facilitate the efficient running of both the early pregnancy & recurrent miscarriage clinics and assist the other health care professionals with their roles. You will be carrying out both administrative and clinical tasks. You will require excellent communication skills and have a calm, supportive & caring approach.

To work as a member of the EPAU team carrying out the administrative and nursing assistant tasks ofthe clinics. To communicate effectively with service users and staff.
To actively maintain and provide a high standard of care to patients in accordance withpolicies/procedures and the outpatient philosophy.
To communicate effectively with members of the public and staff. To ensure that all communication acknowledges the individual needs of the patient and to overcome any barriers tocommunication.
Contribute to a happy and therapeutic environment by establishing and maintaining good workingrelationships with clients and colleagues.
To complete the clinics administrative tasks.
To answer the telephone, directing all enquiries to the appropriate member of staff.
Prepare patients and their environment for clinical procedures. Following these activities, restockand tidy the clinical area.
To chaperone as required. Obtain, communicate and record accurate and timely information relatedto the delivery of care.
To assist the medical/nursing staff when minor treatments are performed.
Acknowledge the limits of your competence and decline any duties that cannot be performed in asafe and skilled manner.
To test urine specimens, perform urine pregnancy tests and patient observations.
Following appropriate training, take patients blood as requested by trained staff.
To ensure patients are comfortable and their privacy and dignity are maintained at all times.
To maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
