Job summary

The post holder will manage the clinical governance team in the further development of robust systems and processes, throughout the Directorate in relation to clinical governance and quality, which underpins safe clinical practice. The role encompasses risk management, clinical audit and clinical effectiveness programmes. The post holder will provide clinical governance and risk management leadership, guidance and expertise to the wider multi-professional Maternity team. This will include implementing strategies and frameworks that ensure the Maternity service meets the Trust and NHSLA standards for clinical governance.

Main duties of the job

This is a senior role within the maternity directorate and the post holder is responsible for ensuring governance and risk systems are in place across the Directorate. To work closely with the Director of Midwifery, Clinical Lead and Midwifery Leadership Team to ensure effective communication systems are in place.

The post holder will work closely with area Matrons to ensure excellent standards of care, a safe environment, robust infection control practices, high standards of cleanliness are in place throughout and compliant with national and local standards.

  • Education to a degree level or equivalent
  • Evidence of further professional development

Desirable

  • Management / Leadership qualification
  • Quality Improvement (QI) and /or Project management qualification

  • Management experience in a senior role
  • Up to date knowledge of Clinical Governance framework.
  • Experience with writing Trust Board level reports
  • Ability to lead and manage a multi- professional team

  • Experience of ward or department budget management and financial issues
