- Principal Responsibilities:
The Clinical Fellow will work at Registrar levels (ST3+ equivalent) in both the Emergency Department (ED) and Ambulatory Assessment Units (AAU) of the John Radcliffe & Horton Hospitals on a 50%:50% split basis.
Main duties of the job
For 50% of their time, the successful candidate will work in the Ambulatory Assessment Unit (AAU) at the John Radcliffe Hospital as part of the acute and general medical team. They will be part of a team of 10 AAU fellows, working alongside 22 AGM consultants and other medical trainees. During their AAU time, they will spend 60 -70% of their time doing clinical patient facing roles and 30-40% (roughly 2 days a week) will be for non-clinical roles. In their non-clinical time, they are expected to complete QI projects, assist in research activities, gain teaching experience and learn Point Of Care UltraSound (POCUS). The role will allow successful candidates to gain relevant front door ambulatory medicine clinical experience as well as useful QI/research and teaching experience.
For the other 50% of their time, the successful candidate will work in the Emergency Departments of the John Radcliffe and Horton Hospitals, where they will be responsible for the initial assessment and management of unselected acutely ill and injured patients. They will work a rota that involves antisocial working hours, including night shifts and weekends and their shift allocation will be tailored to their background (e.g. Emergency Medicine vs General Medicine) and experience. They will be responsible for keeping their resuscitation training up to date.
