Interventional Neuroradiology is a rapidly expanding, dynamic specialty which involves working as part of a multi-disciplinary team of nurses, radiographers, doctors and radiology assistants delivering high standard of care. The unique and varied nature of the speciality means that there is always something new and interesting to learn. Your role is to work as a scrub or a circulating nurse in our angiography suite. You will be fully supported during your first 6 months with mentorship and a competency training package.
Our shift times vary between the hour of 7am and midnight 7 days a week. On call service is provided between midnight and 7am. Participation in the on call rota is required once sufficient experience and competency is achieved.

Main duties of the job
To act as scrub nurse in our interventional rooms assisting neuroradiologists during the procedures.
To act as circulating nurse and monitoring the patient during the procedures and supplying the scrub nurse with all needed equipment.
To admit and prepare patients for treatment and to care for them post procedure.
You will be trained by our senior staff nurses in this very exciting and dynamic work area.

Main Purpose of the post:
- To work with members of the multidisciplinary team in Neuroradiology to provide a safe and supportive environment for patients.
- To support the patient and following training assist the clinician with any procedures necessary for the examination, investigation and treatment of patients.
- To assist with the smooth running of the interventional suite lists.
- To monitor patients during procedures and liaise with the ward staff to arrange a bed if required.
- To act as a contact point for patients who have been seen in the department, giving information and advice on pre and post procedure care.
- To act as a contact point for other departmental health care professionals and support staff, giving appropriate nursing support where required.
- To work in AMIIC admitting patients, preparing them for procedures, recovering patient post procedure and discharging them home with the correct information.
- To be aware of and implement hospital and national guidelines and policies.
- Ensure information is conveyed to the patient and family in a timely and understandable manner.
- To assist with the safe storage and daily checking of all drugs and interventional equipment within the Neuroradiology department.
