Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager

Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is committed to supporting and promoting Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI), recognising that delivering world class research requires diversity of research staff, patients and research participants. Our support for EDI will include actions across all 15 BRC research themes and our enabling hubs. It will involve staff at all levels, from senior leaders to more junior staff.

Our NIHR Oxford BRC EDI strategy (2023-27) aligns with the NIHR EDI strategy, builds on current EDI initiatives at our partnership organisations (OU and OUH) and will embed change across the BRC. A collaborative, partnership approach will be used to catalyse and strengthen EDI activities, ensuring that EDI is considered a core value across the whole BRC.

Main duties of the job

The EDI manager will help the BRC to deliver its equality, diversity and inclusion ambitions by supporting the implementation of the NIHR Oxford BRC EDI strategy. Part of this role (0.2 FTE) will also support OUH in the delivery of its EDI Objectives, working closely with their EDI Lead.

This position requires a strong track record of facilitating EDI activities and the ability to provide expert advice and leadership. You will be expected to work independently, taking the initiative, exploring new opportunities and leading new activities.

You will be the first point of contact for EDI related queries and requests for advice/guidance, working closely with EDI leads across Oxford. This includes, but is not limited to, BRC EDI co-ordinators and EDI leads within OU and OUH.

You will work closely with our BRC themes, supporting the sharing of good practice and lessons learned so that each theme can optimise its activities and deliver successful outcomes against our EDI strategy. You will lead on communications (via emails and newsletter items) and deliver presentations to share our EDI work more widely.

About us

The NIHR Oxford Biomedical Research Centre (BRC) is the largest and most successful research partnership between Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) and the University of Oxford (OU). Since it was first designated in 2007, the BRC has been awarded more than £350m for translational research and related activities.

The post holder will be an active member of the Oxford Joint Research Office (JRO). The JRO was set up between OUH and OU over a decade ago and has expanded recently to include research support teams from Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust (OH).

The role can be worked as a hybrid role, with in office and home working. We welcome discussions around flexible working.
