Job summary
There is a vacancy for a clinical fellow (equivalent to Foundation Year 3 or Core Training Level 1-3) at the Churchill Hospital on a 12 month fixed term contract. Junior doctors in this post rotate between the acute renal and transplant wards, outpatient dialysis units, and the renal day-case unit. They contribute to a 1 in 12 out of hours rota at the Churchill Hospital.
The fellow will be expected to take part in induction and education sessions as arranged, which will include post-clinic discussions and formal meetings. Doctors are expected to perform audit and are encouraged to undertake clinical research projects.

All Doctors contribute to the running of the service, rotating through different areas of the specialty -covering inpatients on the renal and transplant wards, the dialysis units, and the day-case unit. There is close supervision by the relevant registrars and the consultant on-call.
There is a full-shift, resident, 1:12 on-call rota which includes cover of renal and transplant inpatients, and membership of the medical emergency team on the Churchill site overnight. Doctors are expected to perform audit and are encouraged to undertake clinical research projects.
About us
The Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a large university teaching hospital with over 1500 beds that offers a comprehensive range of acute services. Renal and transplant medicine is based at the Churchill Hospital. Facilities include a 16 bed renal ward, 20 bed transplant ward, 8 bed day-case unit, 39 haemodialysis stations, and PD and specialist nursing teams. The OKU has 5 network units which are based in High Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville, Swindon, Milton Keynes and Banbury.
The Oxford kidney unit has fifteen consultant nephrologists (7 NHS and 8 academic) who manage a large programme of 450 haemodialysis and 60 peritoneal dialysis patients. The unit manages Acute Kidney Injury referrals for a large population, including referrals from Milton Keynes, Swindon and High Wycombe. There are satellite dialysis units and clinics in these centres. The Oxford Transplant Centre performs over 250 transplants annually (60 pancreas or kidney pancreas transplants, 185 renal transplants and 5 intestinal transplants).

There is also weekly CMT training that covers the rest of the medical curriculum. - MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Advanced Life Support certificate from the Resuscitation Council UK or equivalent
