Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced practitioner with Level 3 advanced clinical skills and knowledge to join the Churchill Hospital Overnight Recovery Unit (CORU). The primary objective of the CORU Specialist Clinical Practitioner appointment is to develop a unique, nurse-led, medically supported, Enhanced Peri-operative Care Service aligned to the required published standards. The CORU Specialist Clinical Practitioner will be involved in every part of the higher-risk surgical patient's pathway at the Churchill from pre-admission to discharge from CORU. The Specialist Practitioners engagement across the entire surgical journey will lead to both improved surgical outcomes and patient experience of the portfolio of higher risk surgeries undertaken. This engagement will constitute both direct and indirect patient care and the Specialist Practitioner will be supported to deliver the required engagement across the four key pillars of Advanced Clinical Practice - namely Clinical, Leadership and Management, Education and Research.
The CORU is a key part of elective surgical activity at the Churchill and has played a fundamental part of SuWon's surgical activity on the Churchill site. The service has led to improved surgical outcomes, as well releasing pressure on the finite and ever hard to access critical care capacity on the CICU.
Main duties of the job
There is increasing National Recognition of the capabilities of Advanced Clinical Practitioners in consolidating and building clinical services. This band 7 Specialist Clinical Practitioner appointment is pivotal to the ongoing delivery of high quality post-surgical care on the CORU and to also help further develop the CORU into a fully enhanced perioperative care service. A Specialist Clinical Practitioner appointment to the CORU will help develop a unique, nurse-led, medically supported Enhanced Peri-operative Care Service in the CORU that would meet National Standards
This is a real opportunity for the right candidate to make a positive contribution to a successful Trust that continually aspires to deliver the highest standards of care and be an employer of choice. If you are in the process of completing Advanced Care Practitioner and would like to embark on this exciting journey, we like to hear from you.
