We are looking for a qualified and experienced training and development professional to join the Digital Training Team. The post holder will be involved in the design and delivery of an effective training programme for Trust employees to support the continuing implementation and enhancement of the Cerner Millennium Electronic Patient Record (EPR) and other related systems at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and associated organisations.
Main duties of the job
Within the Digital Training Team, you will be part of a wider team that provides end-user system training, application support and system testing for EPR and other related systems at the OUH NHS Foundation Trust and associated organisations.
As a specialist within the team your primary role will be to establish, and manage allocated training provision to ensure a wide variety of staff successfully complete their required training to undertake their roles and responsibilities with the range of systems used within the Trust.
This role will focus on the production and maintenance of the team's eLearning portfolio and as such will encompass the full training and development cycle from identification of training needs, setting objectives, writing scripts, design and development of eLearning programmes, management of testing, sign off and publishing of developed materials and providing appropriate user support as the programmes are released for use in the Trust.
You will also be involved in mentoring and supporting staff within the team as they develop in their training role.
The post holder will also work collaboratively with colleagues on specific projects to create effective training provision. Close cooperation will be necessary with other teams within the Trust and externally, in order to ensure efficient use of resources and prioritisation of training programmes.
About us
The Digital Information Management and Technology Services (IM&T Services) provide support to Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust users as well as to several other Health organisations across Oxfordshire. This involves supporting over 13,000 workstations and printers, circa 18,000 staff users of systems, and over 1200 servers (over 85% virtual). During 2022, IM&T Services responded to 122,000 calls and were involved in multiple projects.
The training team deliver over 6,500 eLearning and seminar sessions annually.

- Ensures that requests for eLearning material are handled according to agreed procedures.
- Uses judgement to estimate priority and duration for the creation of eLearning Material.
- The post holder will attend learning design meetings with stakeholders for assigned projects and contribute to refining the raw content.
- Evaluate learning objectives and key learning points, and ensure they are addressed by the learning solution, in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
- Conduct own research to further understand learner and business requirements for each learning programme.
- Develop training modules that meet key learning objectives that the target audience needs. Modules need to be succinct, easy to follow, and formatted for self-learning, considering appropriate adult learning techniques.
- Develop and generate high quality instructional education material to convey complex and technical subjects in plain English. This could include, for example, text, video, animation, recorded presentations, or e-learning formats using design best practices, required templates and SOP frameworks etc.
- Work with internal stakeholders to ensure training design fits with the overall vision for the area and business requirement.
- Obtaining departmental approvals and pilots of educational material prior to release.
- Create a range of digital learning courses that will engage and motivate the end users.
- Manage strict deadlines whilst ensuring a high-end user experience.
- Explore the use of new technologies, apply these technologies where applicable and assist with technical solutions for e-learning modules.
